Director of Finance

The Director of Finance has an excellent grasp of the investment climate, with knowledge of popular investment vehicles and can support the Executive leadership team in projects such as an IPO, valuation, or project financing. The Director of Finance is tasked with developing the necessary business relationships to achieve the financial and investment goals of the organization. Further, the Director must work in tandem with the Finance team to ensure cash flow, debt, and risk are managed. outstanding communication and mentoring skills with expert-level knowledge of the Gas-to-Liquids (GTL) industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote and represent Cerilon in a professional manner at events and with stakeholders
  • Ensure that the Executive Leadership Team’s decisions support the GTL project lifecycle and deliver a successful project
  • Create clear documentation to support your handover from projects to support
  • Support the Executive Leadership Team’ in creating a positive work culture, focused on development and knowledge
  • Assist the Executive Leadership Team’ in setting corporate financial KPIs that reflect stakeholder goals
  • Participate in strategic business planning sessions
  • Management of risk for the business and financing, but also how the business is able to drive revenue
  • Complex data analysis, budget forecasting, overseeing accounts and budgets, and making strategic financial decisions that will promote long-term financial gain.
  • Development of various types of financial models to value debt and equity for mergers, acquisitions, and capital raising transactions.
  • Perform due diligence, research, analysis, and documentation of live transactions.
  • Oversee Financial model and outputs to support financing presentations and scenarios
  • Create presentations for client portfolios.
  • Develop effective collaborative working relationships
  • Be commercially aware and adhere to commercial governance in all activities with a focus on GTL
  • Provide financial evaluations of strategic opportunities
  • Support the financial direction of the business, and undertake all strategic financial planning and reporting to stakeholders
  • Negotiate and structure financial details with ELT/CFO oversight
  • Liaise with all parties involved in transactions and assist with negotiations.

Qualifications and Professional Experience

  • Excellent communication and analytical skills to solve problems in a collaborative manner.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Finance, Accounting, or related field. A CFA Designation or Master’s in Finance or MBA is desirable
  • Ten+ years of experience in the financial sector with a strong financial vision and insight to match and/or five-seven years of Investment firm experience
  • Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining business relationships with equity investors, brokerage firms, and capital market advisors
  • Experience overseeing and advising on valuation methods – comparable companies, precedents, and DCF
  • Advanced MS Excel & PowerPoint, and other financial modeling tools
  • Project Management experience/knowledge
  • Strong stakeholders (internal & external) engagement and communication.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks are essential.
  • Proven ability to apply a fact-based approach to problem solve complex issues and find resolutions.
  • Adaptable and able to work effectively in a team environment and consistently maintain a professional and respectful demeanor/attitude with co-workers, financiers, contractors, vendors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to create strong working relationships
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills to solve problems in a collaborative manner.

Other Requirements and Information

  • Based in Calgary, AB.
  • Some travel may be required within Alberta and northern USA states.
  • Limited site and/or project office work; may need to work from a home office.
  • Flexible workweek; may need to work on some weekends to meet deadlines.
  • Average of 30-40 hours per week commitment; may fluctuate based on project requirements.
